The opening gala concert reveals the brilliant world of 18th-century classical music,
an era when prominent composers and performers came together to enrich musical life across Europe. The concert’s subtitle, “An Austrian in Bohemia, Czechs in Italy, an Italian in Austria,” aptly captures this European cultural exchange of the 18th century, and the evening will be hosted by actor and presenter Justin Svoboda.
Less well-known concert works will be performed by top-tier soloists. An Italian violin virtuoso will perform Mysliveček’s Violin Concerto in C major, and Jitka Hosprová will play the rarely performed Viola Concerto by Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf. The Wranitzky Kapelle, an orchestra specializing in 18th-century music, will also perform works by F. L. Gassmann and A. Salieri.
Program:
- Florian Leopold Gassmann | La Contessina
- Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf | Concerto for Viola and Orchestra in F major
- Josef Mysliveček | Violin Concerto in C major
- Antonio Salieri | Sinfonia Veneziana
Performing:
Jitka Hosprová – viola
Maurizio Sciarretta (ITA) – violin
Justin Svoboda - foreword
Marek Štilec – conductor
Wranitzky Kapelle - chamber orchestra
